Microsoft’s Japan office led a project called Microsoft Work-Life Choice Challenge in the Summer of 2019. The project aimed at testing the efficacy of a four-day workweek. During implementation, the company reduced the amount of time spent on meetings, limited them to the 30-minute window and also encouraged remote communication. What were the results?
It brought about a 40% boost in productivity, while also leading to a reduction in the consumption of electricity and other resources. Many such studies have been directed at studying the concept. A lot of countries are also considering incorporating the idea in their laws. Hundreds of HR professionals in the UK are in the process of bringing it to their companies.
